Social Accountability 8000 Standard (SA8000)  is the leading social standard that provides a framework for all types of organizations, in any industry, and in any country to conduct business in a fair way for workers and fosters social accountability and other appropriate practices in the workplace.  It is based on internationally recognized standards of decent work, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions and national laws.   It applies a management-systems approach to social performance and emphasizes continual improvement.
