ISO 19650 Building Information Modelling (BIM)

ISO 19650 is a series of international standards.  It defines the collaborative processes for the effective management of information throughout the delivery and operational phase of assets when building information modelling (BIM) is being used.

It is applicable to the whole life cycle of any built asset, including strategic planning, initial design, engineering, development, documentation and construction, day-to-day operation, maintenance, refurbishment, repair and end-of-life. It provides a framework to manage information in a clearer and more efficient way, including exchanging, recording, versioning and organizing for all architects, engineers and construction professionals.

ISO 19650 is growing in popularity, creating the need for an international framework that allows the industry to work together across projects and national borders.

It can be adapted to assets or projects of any scale and complexity, so as not to hamper the flexibility and versatility that characterize the large range of potential procurement strategies and so as to address its cost of implementation.
